Co-fondatrice et consultante en développement durable
Abby Marino
Abby Marino is a textile circularity expert and researcher specializing in sustainability accounting
Holding a degree in accounting from Université Laval, she conducts research at the Centre for Research in Accounting and Sustainable Development (CeRCeDD), focusing on the concrete measurement of sustainability: how materials flow through systems, what they truly cost, and how to assess the circular performance of an organization. Her entrepreneurial journey began in 2019 with the founding of Détour, an online secondhand fashion boutique she ran until 2022. That hands-on experience led her to question the economic models behind circular fashion and to study them with rigor. In 2022, she led a Mitacs-supported research project examining the profitability of automating inventory management for circular retail models. It is this dual identity, entrepreneur and researcher, that led her to co-found Collective Détour. More than a consulting agency, Collective Détour is, for Abby, a vehicle for action: a way to translate research into tangible change on the ground, to drive projects with real impact, and to actively contribute to transforming the textile and apparel industry from the inside out.
